The Conscious universe

I came across this fascinating quote from Max Plank- the Nobel prize winner for physics. ( Via Bradley Nelson’s book  The Emotion Code)

It is so relevant to all that I have been talking about for so many years I felt I should share it.

” As a man who has devoted his whole life to the most clear headed science, to the study of matter, I can tell you as a result of my research about atoms this much; There is no matter as such. All matter originates and exists only by virtue of a force which brings the particles of an atom to vibration and holds this most minute solar system of the atom together.

We must assume behind this force the existence of a conscious and intelligent mind. This mind is the matrix of all matter.

Food for thought, especially for those who believe that science is not compatible with  alternative cosmological  thinking!!!!!

Aspects of reality

Could every particle of the universe be conscious? Is it a designer God’s mind behind it all? Or could it even be ours?

Hi Marian, as you advised I had a look at this quote. He doesn’t really support his assumption with any clear argument – it just seems to be his ‘opinion’. Every scientist knows that this is not really good enough!

The awful truth is that believing in ‘magical forces’ be it God or spirits, or that the Earth is a sentient being etc, is a very attractive proposition and more ‘fun’ than accepting that we are just governed by the laws of physics. Thus people will always be drawn to believe in ghosts or an afterlife or think that someone is watching over them from above. They would argue that without these paranormal aspects to life it would be dull or have no meaning. I would argue the opposite – I’ve had a huge thrill out of seeing the latest mission to Mars, even though there are no alien artifacts on the surface! (I’d have been more thrilled if there were, mind you!)

    yours

Hi Nick..I just thought it was an interesting quote from a high scientist!!!!

People take pleasure in certainty. I feel the truth is more uncertain. After all finest minds it once thought that the universe revolved around the earth…then that the Earth was flat. Some of our finest scientific thoughts now may prove to be absurd in the eyes of future generations.
Also I actually feel that some of the strange folklorish stuff you are mentioning may actually turn to be explainable scientifically in the future.
The problem may just be in the interpretation by our poor limited brains and limited sense organs. Our brains tend to interpret what we see and feel in ways they can cope with.Especially in more primitive times.

We just do not know the whole story. Until we are sure of the whole we cannot wholly trust in our knowledge of the parts, however much we feel they are scientifically proven. After all , for instance, some of the current cosmology is indicating that matter in the far stars is not necessarily doing what is expected from our current laws of physics. Hence dark matter and dark flow and dark energy. The more they look the more uncertainty they seem to find.

Personally I do also love the hard astronomy. Mars lander is awsome !!!!!
Mind you I did suspect that the martians may have switched off the other failed landers, to stop them finding their civilisation. (just joking!!!!)
    cheers Marian
