Elves and Gnomes

There seems to be  so many” little people” of myth and legend in our reality, classified as devas, but very hard to pin down. Of all the Devas I have looked at, elves and gnomes, apart from fairies of course, are among the best known. The trouble is that any search for the truth about elves and gnomes info gets soon caught up in the world of fantasy. I came across Christmas helping Santa Elves, middle earth Tolkien Elves, and the Elves and Gnomes of German folklore. There are even Lego Elves and, of course, garden Gnomes! It is very hard to distinguish elf and gnome fact from a rich tradition of elf and gnome fantasy.

Elves and gnomes

Stories of elves and gnomes abound mainly in Scandinavian, Icelandic and German folk lore and stories. They are said to live underground in the mountains, lakes and forests of these areas. The consensus seems to be that they are mischievous small beings, looking like miniature humans.

Elves are supposed to be small individuals, juvenile in appearance, but with small pointy ears. All the illustrations I have seen show them to be male. They are said to have with magical powers, who can help or hinder human kind. In some quarters elves are considered to be skilled at music and art.

There does seem to be two main types of Elf. Light Elves and dark Elves. Those that work for humanity and those that work against us. There was a theory at one time that Elves could deliberately make you ill. (The Elf shot!).

Gnomes are said to be also short but  dumpier and grumpier, again also almost always shown as male. They do not usually look juvenile but like wizened old men, and  are often shown with beards and pointed hats.  Gnomes come from the Latin genomos- earth dweller. They are reluctant to interact with humans and are said to guard underground mines and treasures.

They seems also to be a cross over in belief and myth between Elves and Gnomes and even Fairies. People refer to the same beings by different names.  Fairies are lighter and winged, but they are often clumped together in practice.  All are supposed to be helping our environment and all can be ambivalent, at least, about human kind.

Something even stranger

When I was researching ancient aliens  I came across a set of theories that some of the small blueish gnomes of German folklore were actually the small blue alien beings. As I said before, distinguishing fact from fantasy is even more difficult than usual!

Next time Leprechauns and goblins.

What actually are the beings that we call fairies, and what are they doing here on Earth with us?  Exact definitions seem to be very difficult to agree on. As with the name devas, which covers a myriad of beings living among us, and working to help maintain our biosphere, people use the term fairies to describe many types of elemental being. In this post I will be looking at the more conventional  ”garden” fairies that many people have experience of. I will be looking at the other types of Devas in the next few weeks.

When you mention fairies most people imagine the creatures of our picture books. Small and pretty, like little people, with small wings. In fact most people who can see them see pinches of vibrating energy. They can chose to show themselves in to the form above. For others, of course, their brains automatically change this (as with all these energy beings that we cannot quite see ) into what they expect to see, as per the description above. As part of the family of devas they are nature spirits here to help maintain the biosphere. They are said to have an excitable energy, and can be powerful manifestors.

In their nature spirit role they are said to be an essential component in maintaining the health of the planet. Like angels are they are fundamentally protecting humanity, but they are much nearer to the physical world.

In “The real world of fairies- a first person account” by Dora Van Gelder King, there is a wonderful description of fairies being creatures of pure emotion and sensation.

Also, interestingly she suggests they establish relationships with other fairies, with plants and animals, and with humans by adapting their vibration to the vibration of the being they want to relate to.

Fairy facts are very hard to pin down. Every person seems to have a different angle or experience or understanding of what they are and do. The list below covers some of the options.

 More Fairy Facts

Every plant is said to have its own fairy helping it to grow. Flower fairies are said to wear the colour of the flower they are protecting or hats made from the petals.

-Although mostly friendly, they can get mischievous or annoyed with humans and play havoc with them.

-They love to dance and sing.

-They live singly or in colonies, there may even be fairy houses or settlements.

– There are beliefs in some circles that some may be fallen angels.

-It is possible to communicate and work with fairy energy. They can help you harness the earth and moon energy to manifest.

-There are spells on the internet for summoning fairies.

-Offerings were traditionally left for fairies. This was to enable your crops to grow, attract wealth and protect you from harm.

-They can gift or manifest you magical powers, skills or other presents.

Where do fairies come from fundamentally?

What insights into the nature of reality does their- and other nature spirits- very existence give us?

This comes back to the fundamental question of existence.

Are they, like the Angels, put here by a creator God or intelligent designer? Or are they just part of the evolutionary random process and have developed alongside humanity largely unseen?

What ever the answer we do seem to need them if we are to save the planet!

Devas and the range of nature spirits

What are these spirit beings called Devas that seem to inhabit our reality with us? The term Deva first appeared in early Vedic literature as a class of divine benevolent supernatural beings (Deva means shining one in Sanskrit). In Buddhism it applies to different types of non-human beings who share some godlike characteristics, including very long life and strength.

When you begin researching what actually Devas are today though, the matter becomes even more complex. The term is often used to describe any of the beings that inhabit our reality that are made just of etheric matter or energy.  They are still considered to be magical or supernatural beings, vibrating at a higher frequency than us, so only visible to some sensitive individuals, or those with their 3rd eye activated.

Some people now use the term Deva to encompass all nature spirits any of the spiritual forces or beings behind nature.  Some people propose the theory that they are a type of, or at least in partnership with, the Angels, looking after nature and the Earth rather than its people.  As are Angels, they may be just another branch of evolution, developing alongside us. They are thought to direct, and be responsible for, the health of all our ecosystem. These are spirits connected to the earth and the green environment. There are said to be millions of them, different types doing different jobs to help maintain life on Earth. It is said that we could not exist without them.

One example of the benefits of working with positively with the Devas is found in the Findhorn Foundation. Peter and Eileen Caddy and Dorothy Maclean found themselves in dire straits living in a caravan site in Findhorn. They needed to grow vegetables, but the soil was very sandy and poor. By working with spirit and the Devas they were able to grow large and plentiful vegetables which should not have been possible on the soil.

Findhorn is now a large community and foundation dedicated to teaching the principles of co- creating with nature.

I shall be looking at some of these beings and their roles over the next few weeks.

Aspects of reality

There is a range of beings made of pure energy which are said to interact with our biosphere to enable it to work and thrive.

Variations on the Fairy theme

As we all are at base, fairies in all their different forms, are beings made of pure energy. The difference is that they are said not also have a physical body with blood, veins and bones as we do.

Some people do see them as we have been taught they look, others see them just as pinches of vibrating energy.

The more I research, the more different variations on the fairy theme I find. Fairies seems to be a general term for a huge variety of beings, seen or unseen that co-inhabit our Earth. There are not just the pretty fairies in our folk law with cute little wings, but include Devas, leprechauns, selkies, salamanders, elves, pixies and elementals+ even more variations on the theme.

Fairies have been classified historically in a variety of ways. In Irish and Scottish folklore, fairies are organized and classified into courts, the Seelie Court and the Unseelie Court.  In the Seelie court, they are beneficial spirits, and are friendly towards humans.  The Unseelie Court consists of the most hostile and perhaps evil of the fairies. Some believe that it contains a number of monsters of horrible appearance and fearsome abilities as well, who take pleasure in harming humans.

Some, of course, like the leprechauns are just mischievous, and some like the Devas and nature spirits are considered essential in maintaining and guiding the ecosystem on our Earth.

These I will explore next time.

Other beings in our reality- fairies, nature spirits, et al

Who is with us in this reality of ours? In this jigsaw of our existence, what other beings are sharing our space? What does their existence mean for the big picture of life?

I have looked extensively at Angels and aliens and even ancient aliens (look back under these categories if you are interested). There is another class, or classes of beings, though, that also seem to be with us. These are fairies, nature spirits and elves  to name just a few. Just my preliminary researches uncovered a vast rich world that I had been unaware of until now. Some are mentioned extensively in folk lore, but still seem to be with us today. Some must have been with us since the beginning of time.

To my surprise I found that not all are working in the best interests of humanity. Anyway, follow me on this journey over the next few weeks. As ever any input would be most appreciated. Please share any experiences with me.

The reality of seeing the future

It has always intrigued me how some people can accurately predict the future, using instinct or tools such as cards or runes. As a big picture reality thinker my question is -What does that say about the mechanisms of the big picture of our reality?

My initial thoughts when I first looked at this problem were, does this mean that the future has already happened? Time, you see is a strange concept. Although we live our lives as if it is linear, we could do it no other way, scientists are always debating whether in fact everything happens at once. Simultaneous rather than linear.

As I understand it now, the truth is even more strange than that. We are of course at base energy beings living in an energy matrix. The atoms that we are made of are nothing more than pinches of energy themselves. The laws that govern their behavior, quantum mechanics, would indicate that all possibilities exist at once. All possible futures exist at once.

The thinking is that, through the Laws of attraction we attract what we want in our lives, consciously or sub consciously. By chance (???) I happened to look at the preamble to Doreen Virtue’s oracle cards.

In explaining how they work she said:

“Every card that you draw out of the deck comes to you for a reason. With the help of your angels and through the spiritual Law of Attraction, you automatically pick cards that mirror your current thoughts and emotions. AND SINCE YOUR FUTURE STEMS FROM WHAT YOU THINK AND DO, THESE CARDS ACCURATELY PREDICT YOUR FUTURE.”

The hint tied up in this statement is that we generate our own future as we go along, choosing from all the possibilities. Is this realistic? Funnily enough, some science may say it is.

Well, I personally have likened our reality, at one level, to an interactive video game.  It may be a strong possibility. It is by looking at these anomalies that we do get clues to the real nature of our reality.

So, some people can predict the future, if we understood the mechanisms properly we would understand more about the true nature itself.

More research needed!

A mission statement and a difficult question

On my last post I was talking about my mission. We all have a mission in life whether we are aware of it or not. Sometimes it is a small one, even just nudging someone else in the right direction with a word can be vital. Sometimes we have work to do in influencing society, putting rights wrong, innovating to help society or bringing up children to make the difference. Not to mention working through karma. To become aware of your life’s purpose can be a double edged sword. A pressure or responsibility, that is even if you get what you should be doing right! There are clues and nudges from the universe if you notice them of course, but living ordinary life itself can be difficult enough sometimes.

Anyway, I believe my mission to be in showing, as far as a limited human being can, how the big picture of reality works. I look at all aspects of reality and how they seem to interact to make us us and our reality what it seems to be. I am a generalist rather than a specialist, and I do not pretend to know the answers. I just understand some of the questions! If I just can to show those who are interested where to look for their own answers, I am happy. It is particularly pleasing when people build on my work and run with it.  Am I on the right track? Well I cannot be sure, but all I know is whenever I try to stop I do get a hard nudge from the universe.

The difficult question

Notwithstanding all the above,  a difficult question has to be asked. That is-should I/ we be doing this at all? If we are born with a blank slate for a reason, if we incarnate to experience life in the raw and learn lessons, would knowing the big picture compromise that? What do you think?

The reality of pre planning our lives

Was talking to Toby about meeting people throughout your life that you know instinctively that you have encountered in another incarnation. They are people that you feel an instant connection with, and recognition of, although you have never met before. The theory of it is that you tend to incarnate with the same souls. Often playing different roles in each other’s lives. I started to list them, and realised that some of them had been pivotal in my life, pushing me in the right direction, or leading on to further contacts that did. Some I have enabled to fulfil their mission and now I am being enabled to fulfil mine.

Anyway, what struck me was the amount of preplanning that had obviously gone in to my life from another dimension. That it was not all chance. Sometimes we forget that we have chosen our lives. We have chosen situations, good or bad, to experience. We also have Karma to work out, over several lifetimes sometimes. In practice is it so easy to lose sight of the big picture of why we are here and get enmeshed in the difficulties of actually living.

So, look up to the big picture when the nitty gritty gets to you. It was all in general terms planned, even though we are born with a blank slate and cannot remember. Notice the nudges and enjoy yourselves around the margins, and soldier on. It will all become clear in the end.

Personal super clues

When I began to think back to when I realised that the reality that we are taught exists was not the whole story, I came up with a list of personal clues that I had noticed, consciously or sub consciously. I always say that I never see anything, but that turned out not to be really true. The brain often twists what we do see to fit its perceived patterns of what we should see. Anyway the clues were there, and the first one was what started me on a lifetime of questioning and thinking.

Marian’s list

  1. 50 years ish ago I met my first husband. We both felt strongly that we had met before in a previous life. We had been brother and sister. Nothing unusual about that now ( in certain circles), but at the time it was not a concept that had ever been discussed. We just accepted it as a fact without really questioning, at the time, what it meant.
  2. My mother could accurately see the future. What started as a party trick frightened her so much she shut it down. Did this mean that the future was preplanned, or had it already happened? Why can some people access this information. Food for thought anyway.
  3. Past life memories started coming up. Having a reiki treatment I felt a heavy beam on my chest and could not breathe. I had been trapped under a boat in a cold northern sea and drowned. This explained why sailing freaked me out. I was not afraid of falling in the water, but in being trapped under an upturned boat. Our irrational fears or unexpected skills are often clues to past lives.
  4. I was on my own in my flat when something very loudly but distinctly said boo in my ear. I am just about to look into fairies and other spirits!
  5. Just writing about ghosts and the g randomly got stuck. Gggggggggggggg. It had never happened before or since. Was someone trying to tell me something?
  6. Between sleeping and waking one day I looked up and saw a circle of lights chasing around what looked like a porthole in a space ship. In the porthole I could see stars. I felt it was a glimpse of a future life, spent travelling the universe.
  7. When I was very upset, green balls of light appeared in front of me. I now know them to be healing orbs. I had no idea then such things existed. Similarly the orange light which sometimes comes to me that I now know to be a protective force.
  8. Toby and I were travelling in the car one day when a whole segment of radio repeated itself. We assumed it was an error although it was supposed to be a live programme and there was no acknowledgement that it had happened. Could it have been timeslip?                                                                                                                                                                                                                    The conscious mind does tend to rationalise and dismiss these things. Indeed society trains it to do so!    Some of the clues seem relatively insignificant, but taken in total they point to reality which is more complex than we can easily imagine. Please share your lists. I seem to be being interfered with even as I write this….

The reality of seeing the super clues

Whatever the mainstream may think, the truth is that our reality is teeming with energy (healing or manifesting) and energy beings (angels, orbs and nature spirits to name just a few). Most of which seem to be here to help the Earth and humanity.

The old question is then, why don’t we all see them? Well, it is on one level a factor of different quality of sense organs, some people are just more sensitive and open. The other factor concerns how our brain deals with what our eyes see, how it organises the information.

Children often see things that they should not but are trained out of it. We all are to a certain extent. There is also the problem of categorising what we do see. Sometimes we think we have imagined things that are actually really there.

This all came home to me when I was writing my thread about orbs. I realised that I had
seen some but had not known what they were and thought I must have been dreaming! I then trawled my memories for other clues to the true nature of reality that I had seen all along. To my surprise I came up with several, including the one that started me on my life long quest to make sense of the true picture of our reality. Next time I will tell you what they were, but I would love to hear about any you may have.
