The Reality of Consciousness after death

As you may know, I am always on the look out further information about the nature of our reality. For me, the strange nature of human consciousness is somehow the key to our understanding of the big picture.

Anyway, I recently found not one but two articles about what happens after brain death, spurred on I think by the popular film ” Flatliners” in which people take themselves to the point of death deliberately to understand what really happens. (more…)

The reality of who we are-4

In my last few posts, looking at who and what we actually are, I have been talking about the fact that we are, at base, nothing more than energy beings living in an energy matrix. I have also hinted that we may well be either holograms or a computer simulation. (Elon Musk, founder of SpaceX certainly thinks we are!)

Jung and self manifestation

strange lights People seeing potential alien, UFO’s or just strange things in the sky, are not a new thing. They have been occurring though out the millennia, although often in the past they have been mistaken for Gods. Nowadays  people sometimes presume that they are from other worldly beings,  but there may be a completely different explanation. Some of them could actually be our own top secret  planes or experiments. There are other possibilities though.

For instance, the famous psychoanalyst Jung, writing over 50 years ago, along with many modern thinkers today, pointed out that there may be an unseen link between consciousness and matter. In other words we may be manifesting some of those strange phenomena. Either ourselves, or though the collective unconscious.

Aspects of reality

1- There may be a link between consciousness and matter.

2- Some reported phenomena may come from our collective unconscious.

Manifestation using the mind

realityConcerning the science of reality, I want to share with you one more piece of the jigsaw that has come to my attention concerning the ability to manifest our own reality. It is ground that I have covered before in my series of posts last year on manifestation. Check them out if you are interested. Sometimes, though, a slightly different way of putting things, on a familiar subject, will suddenly raise your understanding to a whole new level.

For instance, I have talked about people manifesting, by prayer, intention or spells and asked, how is it possible? Also, how can the mechanism that people use be correlated  with our scientific understanding? A book, that I was given for my birthday, had a slightly different way with words on this subject which really re-enforced and illuminated the answer for me.

As the book, WeMoon 2016 said, the science of manifestation involves quantum mechanics and human consciousness. QM involves some of the smallest particles in existence that are known as” the bedrock of the sub underworld of physical form”. I loved that phrase. It gave perspective to what I already understood. As we know, experiments have shown that the consciousness of an observer influences the behavior of these particles which exist only as potential at the sub atomic level. So the science is there for the possibility of manifestation.

As, the book says “Our expectations actually do create our reality”

The spells and prayers and intentions just focus us on the reality we desire. So keep positive and be sure of the reality you desire, and remember science is actually on our side.

Aspects of reality

Again we return to the substantial but anecdotal evidence that we create our own reality using the quantum field and the power of our mind.

A different slant on consciousness

red-question-mark Human consciousness is  one of the great mysteries of life. It is difficult to accurately define, and also the only way that we know we exist and are  human. There are those that think consciousness, or awareness, exists only as a bi -product of the evolution of the human brain, and there are those that feel it is both too complex and not evolutionary necessary for this to be the case. This theory sees consciousness as add on, coming in from elsewhere, that continues on after the death of the physical body. This is a very old argument that has adherents on both sides.

Recently though, I have come across information that, if accurate, puts a whole new slant on the subject.

Another look at the mystery of consciousness

Regular readers may have noticed that I have discussed human consciousness a lot in my blog posts. (May 2011- see, for instance, The reality of us- the mind and body conundrum parts 1 and 2, and A question of consciousness- the ultimate reality). This is because I think the nature of this consciousness is both unknowable and one of the great clues into the true reality of who and what we really are.

How can we define it? Consciousness is sometimes known as ” the ghost in the machine”. Our personhood, who and what we are, seem to be originating from the grey cells of our physical brain But how or why? Its elusiveness  signifies perhaps its great mystery. The brain’s mechanical workings can be imaged using MRI scans. Certain bits can be shown to light up when certain actions occur. BUT no science can yet, however, really understand why the recorded interaction of neurons and synapses and the working together of different parts of the brain can give rise to the sort of  consciousness that makes individuas who and what they are.

The reality of consciousness- Interacting on the psychic level

Human consciousness is one of the biggest mysteries of all. We are not sure actually why it exists, or what its exact nature is. It becomes really interesting when some people are able to do things with their consciousness, have some skills or talents, that  should not be strictly be possible. This is if  the scientific standard model of humanity as nothing more than  biological beings, products only  of Darwinian evolutionary forces, is true.

The scientific community seems to be waking up to this fact though. There are many phenomena, such as telepathy, intuition, second sight and prediction of the future, which should not exist if the world was just as science would have it.

Throughout the ages there has been much, albeit anecdotal, evidence of such phenomenon. Indeed, if we were honest, most of us could give examples from our own experience. Because it could not easily be proved in the scientific labs, it has been generally not been taken seriously, however.

The standard model of consciousness

Science would have it that consciousness, and all of what we are, is generated only in the firing neurons of the brain. If this were true then all of the above phenomena could not be possible. Something else does seem to be going on, what could it be?

Possible alternatives

I have discussed the subject of consciousness in previous posts in May 2011, The reality of us – mind body conundrum, The reality of us- one system or two, A question of consciousness- the ultimate reality. These looked at the possible true nature of consciousness, in the big picture of reality.

I noticed recently though, the Daily Mail on Saturday 7 th of January 2012, had an interesting article, adapted from a book by a Cambridge scientist Rupert Sheldrake. The extract published was from, The Science Delusion; Freeing The Spirit of Enquiry. This had a slightly different slant on what was going on in the mind.

Consciousness as a field

Mr Sheldrake stated that;  the intuitions reported, actually fitted in with the concepts of the  field theory of minds. He explained that, for instance,  in the same way as a mobile phone has a field inside it, but which also extended way beyond it, our conciousness may work the same way. The logical extension of this then is that we are at some level interacting with the wider environment around us. Our consciousness may have its roots within our brains, but extend way beyond them.

Aspects of reality

This theory would seem to be compatible with the reality that we are, in fact, living and interacting in an energy matrix. ( see previous June 2011 post Reality- living in the energy matrix). It does not deal, at least the extract published does not, with the really difficult big picture question.  This is how people can possibly forsee the future. This is the real million dollar question. What do you think?
